of Fleet Street. A Musical Thriller (2024)
Photography: Leo White
Show Logo: Designed by Jenni Newman based on concept by Dan Elliott
The Brief:
To design a poster for the popular musical, Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street being performed by Threshold Theatre Company. The original poster I designed was created without photography using the logo on its own with brickwork and blood splatter behind it.
By request of the client, I worked with the photography provided to create a poster featuring a cast member to promote the show. After working through favoured imagery, that proved not to work with the shape of the logo and the licensed copy that must feature, I put forward this artwork with the lead actor as Sweeney Todd featuring. This was approved and printed to appear in the theatre.
The photography needed some Photoshop work to allow for typography to work and to remove the static photoshoot background.
Also included are the venues logos to their specification, the company logo and show dates. All linked by the favoured colour scheme for the promotional artwork that ran through all promotions online.

Little Shop of Horrors (2023)
Audrey 2 plant illustration: April Nash
The Brief:
To produce the poster and show logo for EYT's production of Little Shop of Horrors. This production was set in 1970's America, rather than the original 1950's. The director wanted a neon light styled logo with the plant 'Audrey 2' as the centre piece.

Working in collaboration with the illustrator, I researched and taught myself how to create the neon light style logo which the illustrator then utilised to apply to her image.
As with all show posters, the licence holder's rider instructs all information that must be present on the poster. At times this can cause issues with spacing and ensuring that the creative names and titles are at a stipulated size to the show's logo.

Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass (2022)
Rabbit & Watch illustration: April Nash
The Brief:
To create the poster and show logo for the production Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass.
The director of this production chose a darker vision/direction, similar to the 2010 Disney, live action film. My instinctive concept for this poster was to use playing cards, as that is a known element of the classic Lewis Carroll story. The director wished to have a rabbit's skull as the main imagery for the poster and an illustrator was recruited to help create that vision.
I chose fonts for the logo I created that specifically caused unease to the eye with its uneven heights and weights to add to the darker direction of this production.

A Chorus Line (2022)
The Brief:
The initial design I produced for this production was similar in logo style but not as stylised as the finished design. The client asked for the logo and design to 'pop'. This pushed me to research further and to play more with text options available in Photoshop, and this was the finished product of that research. The gold type is 'live' type so that anything may be typed in that space whilst retaining the gold effect upon it. This became a useful tool through the promotional pieces created for this production.

Quick-Brewed Macbeth (2019)
Skull Image: Stock image
The Brief:
To create a poster and logo design for this youth production of Quick-Brewed Macbeth.
The instruction from the client for this poster was open to interpretation with some input about colours after the design was sent for client approval.
With a good knowledge of the play, I drew on the dark, and serious tones to create the basis of this design. Using fonts that appeared to sync well with the era the production was written and set. I chose the quote from the play to set in the background behind the skull, highlighting sections of the text to 'introduce' the show's title.
